Ponding Day at Indian Creek Hatchery
Ponding Day marks the transition of newly hatched salmon fry from incubation trays to outdoor raceways, where they begin feeding and growing. Volunteers are essential in helping start the new hatchery season.
Reel Fish Days
Reel Fish Days at Arizona Pond bring four days of hands-on learning and fishing fun to local third graders. With the help of more than 30 dedicated volunteers each day, students learn how to tie knots, cast a line, and experience the excitement of catching their first fish. Stay tuned April 21, 23, 28, and 30!
Fin Clipping and Coded Wire Tagging
At Indian Creek Hatchery, (CAF) orchestrates a significant, month-long initiative to ensure that all salmon smolts have their adipose fin clipped, a procedure necessary for tracking and research. In total, approximately 28,000 smolts will be carefully inserted with a coded wire tag, enabling valuable ODFW data collection for various research purposes.
