Welcome to a New Year at the Hatchery
The first general meeting of 2026 marked an exciting start to the year for Curry Anadromous Fishermen and Indian Creek Hatchery. Members gathered to welcome new leadership, hear updates from the hatchery, and look ahead to a full season of hands-on work and community events.
We’re pleased to introduce the 2026 Board of Directors and Officers, led by President Roger Lindquist and Vice President Joe Janowicz, with Jesse Dolan serving as Treasurer and Laura Hawkins as Secretary. The board also includes Gary Underhill, Bruce Blanthorn, and Gene Trinkler. As we head into the year, CAF is seeking two additional board members, and we encourage anyone interested in helping guide the organization to reach out.
Another exciting development is the formation of a new CAF Auxiliary Group. This group will focus on supporting the hatchery through events, fundraising, and creative ideas. If you’re looking for a new way to get involved, this is a great opportunity—contact Janet Jeffreys to learn more: (805) 265-6012.
Hatchery Update
On the hatchery front, preparations for the season are well underway. The raceways have been power washed and are ready, with ponding scheduled to begin in mid-February. Additional incubation room repair work parties will be announced soon.
Volunteer Opportunities
With fish coming in, volunteer help is essential — now is the perfect time to get involved.
Ponding: First ponding will be on or near Feb 20th. Watch your email for final dates and times. There will be 2 more ponding dates after the first, each being a week apart.
Feeding: As soon as the fish are ponded, they will need feeding 4 times a day. Contact Bruce Blanthorn at (702) 499-3721 or bdb1037@gmail.com to get on the schedule.
2026 Salmon Derby: Seeking volunteers to help make next year’s Derby even better than 2025. It’s never too early to begin. Donors are already preparing their 2026 budgets, so we need to reach them early! Contact Roger at: (541) 373-7848 to get started.
2026 Snout Collection: Our efforts this year yielded good results, but we would like to make next year even better. Please consider joining in this fun and productive opportunity. For more information, contact Bill Budd at (503) 929-3259 or adelphipainting.bb@gmail.com.
