Preparing for the Next Generation of Rogue River Salmon
Fall is an important season at Indian Creek Hatchery, and our October General Meeting brought exciting updates as we prepare for the next generation of Fall Chinook salmon.
Broodstock collection is well underway, with 80 fish collected as of October 19! Volunteers have been working at Huntley Park on the Rogue River, helping support this critical stage of the hatchery's annual salmon production cycle. With collection efforts winding down and spawning scheduled for November 17, another busy season of hands-on hatchery work is just around the corner.
As we look ahead, we're also preparing to celebrate the people who make this work possible. Our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and Board of Directors Election will take place December 9 at The Landing North. A special thank-you goes to the CAF Auxiliary for organizing this gathering.
We're also calling on our community to help capture the memories of 2026! If you have photographs from hatchery operations, volunteer activities, or CAF events throughout the year, please send them to cafrogue@gmail.com. Your contributions will help us celebrate another year of dedication to Indian Creek Hatchery.
From broodstock collection to community education and volunteer appreciation, every contribution helps sustain the hatchery's mission.
