Letter from CAF 〰️ Storm Damage Update 〰️

Good morning,

We would like to give you all an update.  It has been a couple of weeks since the last one so it’s time.

We want to assure everyone that we want OUR fish back as much as you all do.

We are making progress, slow but steady.  We made a significant step forward this week in getting the main water supply line repaired and we have water back to the hatchery.  While this is great news, we still have several minor and one major task to complete before we feel it is safe to bring the fish back.

While we have water to the hatchery, we currently do not have adequate access to the water supply.  When the water starts to drop in the creek, as it does every summer, we need to be able to safely go to the water intake and clean it of debris.  Currently we have to go down a 10–12 foot bank, walk across the creek, and then climb back out of the creek and up another 10–12 foot bank.  While this is possible, and has been accomplished since the incident, the board sees this as a major safety risk.  Regaining that access is our next and highest priority. The board will be at the crossing early next week to discuss options.

We worked very hard to save the fish and we are coordinating closely with ODFW on their reintroduction back to Indian Creek.   Again, we know you all are anxious as to when the fish are coming back, please know that when we know you will be the first to know.

Thank you!
